Don't like colour of new kitchen cupboards - anything I. Am so?

As the title says our new kitchen has been fitted as part of a larger building project and having seen the finished thing really for the first time this week with worktops, flooring etc......I don't like the colour of the units Sad

They are Hacker Lotus shaker units in white with kashmir (kind of pale taupe-y colour) on the island and whilst I love the kashmir ones, the white ones look too yellowy / creamy to me.

I definitely wanted a 'white' white rather than a creamy off-white but they don't look 'white' white to me.

I was tempted to have kashmir everywhere but was a bit concerned it would be too dark - it is a big room with 3 windows but as it is east facing I was conscious of the light so thought safest to go with white units for the main run and then just have the kashmir on the island. Salesman also suggested the kashmir might be a bit of a passing trend and so white a more classic choice.

Worktops are a whitish flecked silestone and the walls are (colour matched) F&B elephants breath. Floor is a neutral oak.

Guess what I am wondering is if there is anything that can minimise the creamy tinge that the units seem to have and to maximise their supposed bright whiteness?? Know it seems a silly thing to moan about but have been planning this kitchen & looking forward to it for ages and now just feel v deflated with it.

No pics unfortunately as we aren't in the house at present & didn't think to take any earlier.

Thanks

I think you should livdneith it for a bit. Painted units always look a bit.... painted.

Are they definitely the correct colour units? Did you see a sample of the "white-white"? Maybe they've put in ivory or cream units instead, by mistake?

I've also just installed a Hacker kitchen (Taupe) and am now not sure of the colour - the light makes such a difference. The fitter was telling me that he'd just replaced a load of doors on another kitchen for the same reason as you - apparently Hacker do a white and a bright white, the former looking cream in the 'wrong' setting. I'd check you've got the right white, then try to live with it for at least a couple of months. This will give you the chance to see it in lots of different lights and play around with different colours/accessories/lights/paint. Worse comes to worse you can change the doors, I spoke to another Hacker dealer who told me the doors aren't that expensive. In my case I think a black worktop is going to help which is the last thing I would have considered.

Improve the lighting directly at the white cabinets using a high value lumen bulb . Something over 6500 lumens should help ! That emits a bright, almost daylight, light.

Thanks all, that's helpful.

Bike Definitely wouldn't be considering painting the units as agree with you there so can rule that one out!

Sarah sea Interesting about the 'white' and the 'bright white'. When I looked at the samples in the showroom there was only one 'white' and it definitely looked 'white' without any hint of cream so think I will be speaking to them to double check that we have got what we ordered.

Am annoyed with myself for not having the courage to go with the Kashmir / taupe everywhere but it did look quite dark in the showroom so was worried it would be too much.

Out of interest do you think the taupe looks lighter in real life compared to samples??

In the meantime I will see what I can do with the lighting so thanks One plan

Thanks again

Berlina sorry you're feeling like this. I think give it a bit of time to see how you feel after the 'newness' and 'change' has worn off.

What bulbs have you got in? Make sure you have 'cold white light' not 'warm white' bulbs.
