cracks in house we are buying and having a panic

Bedroom and lounge below have internal and external cracks in wall. Got a survey done by specialist who said it was due to thermal movement as south facing wall and concrete lintels and new windows. He said it's not serious. Helifix have assessed his diagnosis and agreed that crack stitching and bars will sort it.

So why now, a week from exchange am I panicking and feel like I'm buying a house that will fall down?

Either pull out, or trust the experts. Just had a building survey done on the house we're about to exchange on, which is built on a hill. Lots of subsidence 30 years ago, but which has massively underpinned. Our building survey showed no further movement so we're going ahead.

Oh also - check to see if you can get insurance. You're liable for insurance from the moment you exchange.

U did and we can. Talked to neighbors and all the houses built at the same time in the development have the same cracks and all still standing so have relaxed ,:)

We also bought a house that had had past subsidence due to a cracked drain and still has cracks, the report says the movement was historic and has ceased. We really liked the house so trusted the report and went ahead.

My only fear is others will be put off if we try to sell but we don't plan on doing that any time soon.

this isn't subsidence, but thermal expansion, bad lintels and possibly settlement, and none of the issues were picked up in the valuation. We are getting it all fixed ASAP

I happened to notice that on one of your posts you mentioned a builder with the name of David Charles Quentin and you said not to touch him with a barge pole,my neighbor is having some work done by him at the moment but he has had money and doesn't turn up,and the work he does do is shoddy, can you expand on the problems he gave you please as I am worried for her as she is elderly and berieved.
Thankyou
