We are interested in a property that has gone to best and final offers. To get it, we would use a mixture of cash and remortgage our current home, which is mortgage-free at present.

However, I guess we would need evidence. We could use bank statements for the cash. We haven't tried to get a mortgage yet, and the "best and final offers" is for Monday. I don't anticipate any difficulty in getting a mortgage, as we have low outgoings, a good income and would be looking at

I got an aip from my bank immediately when I did it online, and they then followed up with an email saying 'we may be able to lend you ££'.

That was as a first time buyer though, it may be different if you already own a property.

Which bank did you use? We just tried with Barclays, and after filling out the form, it said we needed an appointment, and the first possible one is Tuesday. It wanted us to take in photo ID and evidence of income, documents for any BTL if we had any, and any home/life insurance policies.

I'm with RBS, after I got the aip online it said that I'd have to go in for an appointment only if I wanted to continue with the application. It must be different for mortgaging an existing property.

Thanks to your reply, I phoned up and asked. Smile I've discovered my problem. I'm self-employed, and so need to speak to an adviser. I guess we won't be in contention, as we can't do that by Monday. Thank you!
