How to insulate door into conservatory

We have a conservatory off the back of our dining room - it's the type that is freezing in winter and too hot in summer. There is a door between the conservatory and dining room which is of normal internal size, but part glass panels, and opens into the conservatory and folds right back against the wall. In the summer we have it open and it is lovely. In the winter even with the door shut the dining room is freezing to the point that we stop using it. This year I have decided that this is ridiculous and we need to find a way to insulate the door. The only idea we have would be to put up a curtain rack along the whole of the adjoining wall and put up a heavy curtain. Will this work - or is there a better plan?

It will make a difference, especially in a heavy fabric. Interlining or thermal lining will help.

you could also use a Portiere curtain rod, which swings away when you open the door. It works with a pivot and slide.

Get a substantial one in brass or stainless and it will be happy with a heavy lined curtain.

Many people unhook the curtains from them in summer when insulation is not required.

Thick thermal lined curtains make a massive difference. We rented once in a house where the conservatory divider was the old single paned French Windows.

I lined the thin cheap curtains with fleece blankets from asda, it was noticeably warmer from the first night.
