Question for landlords

I rent a house i an relatively happy with and unless circumstances change dramatically am likely to be there for a long time (been 18months so far).

Rent is very reasonable and although the house is nicer than our last it is far from perfect (damp, shared yard, down and alley).

All of these i can cope with but our shower is terrible and due to an ill fitting shower screen leaks every time it is used.

As a landlord, would you ever look to improve something like this if your tennant brought it to your attention? Not the leak but the useless shower?

It has 0 power the plug hole always block and it never really gets hot.

I think we are good tennants, look after the house, never bother the landlord, have tidied up paint work etc when needs be. Would that affect your decision?

What's the water pressure like on the taps etc?
I only ask because when we moved into our current house, we couldn't believe the crappy water pressure. We asked the next door neighbours if they had any problems and they said theirs was fine, we investigated different options and eventually we discovered that the stop tap under the sink was half turned off! We switched it fully on and hey presto, no more problems!
Surely worth a check.

will certainly have a look, thank you!

seems ok on the taps. not gushing out but certainly not a drip. i will take a look though, thanks for the suggestion.

If the shower's not new and you're in a hard water area, it could be limescaled up - that's what happened to one in our last house. Replaced it & we could have full pressure showers, and didn't have to shower before 7am (before every other bugger in the street got in the shower & reduced the pressure).

would that be the shower head or shower head and hose?

i'm not sure about hard water (can you tell this is my first home from my parents?) but when we get a glass of water or anything it is cloudy at first. i'll google this!

i'm learning lots on this thread, moderately soft.

white water is caused by air bubbles and should settle which is does when the glass is stood for a while Grin

If it's an electric shower, it's where the water flows through the body of the shower to be heated. The shower head should be regularly cleaned with Viakal or somesuch to get rid of limescale (not down to landlord!). I push a pin through each shower head hole too to get rid of the limescale after soaking the head in Viakal for about half an hour & washing it off (use an old nail brush to get rid of limescale deposits.

This should give you some idea - hard water = limescale.
