Temporary kitchen (upcycle)

Our new house is a complete project. Whilst waiting for plans to be drawn up which we suspect will mean going over the current kitchen we'd like to facelift the kitchen.

It's really 70's styled with tiled worktops and a massive copper carvery extractor hood.

The units are wood and we could paint them, but where should I go for wooden butcher block counters to be cut to size?

Is it relatively straightforward replacing the sink and hob units?

I'd prefer not to spend huge amounts of £'s as it's merely temporary but seriously ugly at the moment.

ikea cut to size and do very cheap wood worktops

That's interesting. Do I just measure the whole thing and make a template to include the sink and hob and they do everything?

Do we need a joiner or other tradesperson?

see page 46. I'm guessing you could fit it yourself (with a bit of DIY knowledge) if it's already made to measure. Alternatively you could buy a worktop from anywhere and pay a joiner to install it.
