As a buyerwhat would you think? And what effect do you think it would have on the selling prices?

Starling, I'd have thought those flood plain houses would be really hard to sell, in the age of the internet - but apparently not. The ones that we passed yesterday seem to be selling like hotcakes. Anyone local wouldn't want to touch them with someone else's bargepole (although a bargepole might come in handy for anyone buying them..) So, assuming they're mainly being bought by people not from this area... you'd assume, especially after last year's floods, they'd be Googling the shit out of any intended house purchase on the floodplains round York, right?

They can't be!

The last house i sold was on a road and both our next doors neighbours were selling also. No dispute, just everybody had different reasons for selling, one was downsizing, one divorcing, one upsizing. They all sold within three weeks of each other. Not necessarily bad Op, could just be bad tiiming.
