Our bathroom is about to be gutted so I'm starting from scratch and really fancy this beauty… but not the price!

I want a freestanding bath, but without feet. Show me your bathing receptacles Grin

TIA Flowers

I think the Marlborough is about £2500

bookgirl1982 · 05/10/2016 08:39

We had a carronite bath in both our two previous houses and they are lovely. Warm, sturdy and a good shape for lounging!

Ineverpromisedyouarosegarden · 05/10/2016 12:04

While I love my V&A bath neither it or the matching sink have an overflow. So unless you have a separate bathroom for Dc any possibly Dh too think carefully. Wink

FrickOnAStick · 05/10/2016 12:47

My V&A bath has an overflow Smile. Not that kids use it.

Shiningexample · 05/10/2016 12:52

I had one in a previous house, one edge was against the wall, it had feet was very happy and plan on getting the same with my bathroom refurbishment iin my current place

TheTeaFairy · 05/10/2016 19:29

The V&A York tub is exactly what I envisaged Frick. With an overflow Grin

Thanks everyone for your feedback - its all very useful. One of the things I'm finding most difficult about planning our house renovation is working out what's worth spending on and what isn't. Do I really need to love my bath?

it's

Er… yes, I think I do, but I'll have to cut costs elsewhere…

This is mine. Excuse the weird lights on the wall, think it's a reflection from somewhere. Bath was about £800.

Very nice Likean - is your bath flush with the wall? If it isn't, do you find it difficult to clean behind there? trying to be practical

Teafairy- it's not flush, there about a foot gap at the back. I can stick a hoover & mop down the back of it. It's pretty easy.

This is mine (although it has feet which I know you don't want) I actually have it against the wall. It is amazingly comfy and doesn't creak. The waste is out of view (and is metal). I love it to bits Grin. The only thing you have to bear in mind is that there is nowhere to put your (wine) soap etc, so we had niches put into the wall slightly above. You could also put candles etc into them. They look amazing compared to built in baths so I would definitely recommend them.

callmeadoctor · 07/10/2016 23:00

Oh and you can clean underneath, not a problem really.

Mmm, good thinking re the candle and wine niche callmeadoctor - love your bath Smile

They go cold fairly rapidly compared to built in. But they do look amazing.

Bemusedandbaffled · 10/10/2016 00:14

Hi OP! Where are you based? I am in London and renovate properties, so often end up with surplus things I don't need, but with limited storage to keep them indefinitely. I happen to have a brand new, cast iron bateau bath, that I want to clear for £1000. It's incredibly heavy though and will need at least 3-4, very strong men to move it. It will last a lifetime! This is my first ever post, so hopefully I'm not breaking any rules. Pm me if interested.

TheTeaFairy · 11/10/2016 15:17

Bemusedandbaffled I did PM you hoping to snag a bargain but no reply. Think your bath may be too heavy for my house anyway…

On with the hunt Smile

I'm looking for a freestanding bath too - so watching this thread with interest.

I've also been looking at www.castironbath.co.uk/roll-top-baths/bateau-baths.html where they start at £2,000. I'm actually thinking of putting mine in my bedroom - if I dare! Then I'll keep the bathroom for our shower/practical stuff.

However, I agree freestanding baths in bedrooms and kids are not an ideal combo!

OverScentedFanjo · 01/11/2016 13:54

Cleaning behind can be tricky. There is always a teeny slither of grime you can't reach.

Also the roll top means my cat can't walk along the edge while I'm in the bath. He sits on the floor and cries.
