Amazing property but am properly spooked by photo 19.

OP posts:

The crosses and crucifixes in the bathroom. Wow.

It's really interesting, with the mixture or religious paraphrenalia and taxidermy. Just imagine when the lights are out.

lionheart · 16/08/2016 20:04

It does look as if the ghost is checking her iphone.

KickAssAngel · 16/08/2016 20:05

It's one of those photos where they do time-lapse to show a 'hint' of a person in the house, but done in black and white to look like a ghost.

Crazy house.

"have some genuine atmosphere" someone said. "Put in stag's head or two, like the real toffs have."

Then someone else took that notion and ran with it ... like Forrest Gump.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 16/08/2016 20:05

well. i know where my lottery winnings are going!

soundsystem · 16/08/2016 20:10

Oh wow, this is amazing. I'd so live there. Off to buy a lottery ticket now...

pinkmagic1 · 16/08/2016 20:17

That is the weirdest, quirkiest house I have ever seen in all my life! Fantastic, but I wouldn't want to live in it. Never mine the ghost, look at the bust with the glowing eyes in photo 18 and the priest with crucifix facing the bed in photo 24!

pasic · 16/08/2016 21:09

You'd have lots of free time if you lived there, no telly and dusting optional.

user7755 · 16/08/2016 21:12

Im sure this has been posted on here before. Unless I'm having a spooky moment Hmm

TheCrowFromBelow · 16/08/2016 21:23

I love it! But: It's a semi and it needs a decent kitchen, at least 2 more bathrooms with and the garden needs a good powerhose.
And it's slightly out of my price range Sad
Very low ceilings as well.

SuckingEggs · 16/08/2016 21:29

It's peculiar. Don't like it at all.

frostyfingers · 16/08/2016 21:50

Exactly which bit has been sympathetically restored?!

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 16/08/2016 22:14

So now estate agents just photoshop their own ghosts in and let mumsnet do their marketing for them?

Sneaky, yet genius.

bloodyteenagers · 16/08/2016 22:31

Some developer will probably buy it. Rip everything out, and split it into loads of wanky apartments/studios.

I really don't think it looks 'beautifully landscaped' or 'immaculately restored'.

I can imagine the Addams Family living there.

TheCrowFromBelow · 16/08/2016 23:09

Can't see the huge price drop? Looks like it came on in May at the same price.. Was on 6 years ago at less.
It's right on Mile End Rd AKA the A11.

The internal décor is straight out of a psycho killer's lair from a film. It is truly horrible. How they have the cheek to say it's restored when it clearly needs decorating in several rooms, I don't know. And where the hell do you cook a meal?

RebelandaStunner · 17/08/2016 09:16

Don't like it too museum like. If you bought it, it would possess you and you would never be allowed to leave alive. Something bad happened there.

OjosCansados · 17/08/2016 09:32

I expect the house on other side of the semi has a cinema room, hot tub, ameican-style fridge freezer and a shiny white Range River outside it.

YelloDraw · 17/08/2016 10:53

Ha ha I go past that every day, love the building.

The road is really busy which detracts somewhat from the house.

YelloDraw · 17/08/2016 10:53

No I think you would have to spend a shit load to get it up to standard.

sparechange · 17/08/2016 11:00

I think I have fallen a bit in love with that house, which is the polar opposite to my 'symphony of griege' usual tastes

I have seen (and stayed in) much creepier country houses

KickAssAngel · 17/08/2016 13:53

Just read the blurb in the description - it was restored by Spitalfields Trust (as was the house next door) and made to look how it did back in the 1700s. So, that basement kitchen has a 1700s range in the chimney, but no modern cooker etc. I wonder if it was meant to be a museum and they ran out of money?

More importantly, it has NO parking.
