Would you buy a flat with...

Just a shower instead of a bath in the bathroom?

We are going to get our bathroom replaced and we're debating whether or not we should remove the bath and just have a shower.

Only thing that worries me slightly is it's a three bedroomed flat, close to town, close to schools. If in the future we were to sell up would people, future buyers possibly being families, be put off with there being no bath?

I wouldn't.

I'm fact when we bought our flat it was a choice between two pretty much identical flats that sound very similar to yours (three bed, schools etc) and we chose the one with the bath because it saved the expense of putting one in.

No. I get one hour every Saturday where I laze in the bath with a book and expensive bubble bath. (if I'm not out that evening, I'll have the bath late and have a glass of wine and all). It's my me time! Would never give that up.

I accept not everyone is quite so evangelical about bathing _

First thing I do when I move into a house is replace the bath so it wouldn't bother and they aren't expensive to put one in before you go to market if it's perceived as a problem

Yes but I'd pay £5k less to factor in redoing the bathroom.

We have a tiny bathroom which only fits a half size bath so had it taken out. We have an amazing shower with a bit double cubical but it's just not the same. And bathing the littles is a nightmare

Keep that bath if you can!

Wouldn't even cross my mind. I'm in Sydney and I'm always surprised when I come across places with baths in them.
I haven't had a bath for over a decade.

I loathe shower cubicles unless they are huge

I'm absolutely with you on the whole never buy a flat thing. But sadly it's all we can (barely) afford round here in SE London.

Flats are such a pain esp as the majority are leasehold- you have to factor in the extra cost of service charge & ground rent which can be massive.

Where we rent the service charge is apparently almost 3k per annum!

Sorry, I digress from the original topic.

For me, a bath is an absolute necessity!
