Not sure if this is through right place to ask advice and even though I'm laughing I'm very scared that scared infact I didn't sleep at home last night.

So here's what's happened the neighbour on another street (also does alot of work in his house) told his next door neighbour he seen a mouse in his kitchen. He lady he told then seen one in her back garden and in the grid infront of her house dead afew weeks ago.
No now yes know I have one in my house (I live across a road from them). We are getting our kitchens and bathrooms done by the council to. So everything is boxed up in the living room.

Anyway so my daughter is home alone watching TV Saturday morning and the front door is open. She said she noticed something move and seen it was a little mouse (well it was little with a long tail).
So I got her to shut the livING room door and I would sort something out.

I sent my sister round with traps and she left the living room door open. I then went back with my mum to look for it. (Iv had everyone in there looking)
We hoovered moved the boxes etc. I couldn't stay there so we stayed at my mums last night.

Iv returned to the house today and noticed the mouse had taken food from the trap but it didn't go off ( it wasn't placed correctly ). So now I'm even more scared coz I know it's still in there.

Anyway coz I have no holes In the walls etc does this mean there will more then likely just one mouse?

I was going to stay at a home tonight and get in the girls room (my room in down stairs ) but after reading up they can get up the stait's to? But I don't have carpet on my stairs thou so would it be harder for them to get up?.

I have more traps and sticky traps.

I need it gone like yesterday
P

best, not eat

Just been to lay more traps and check over the house. There was no droppings anywhere. Found a small hole next to the skirting in the kitchen so placed one near there around the kitchen and the hall way which leads to other rooms and the bottom of the stairs.

Will update tomorrow

Don't worry, as a mouse catching expert, you will have droppings if you have got mice proper!

TroysMammy · 07/08/2016 21:40

A mouse lived there, then he had a wife and triplets and quins and twins until it was overrun with mice sitting on the stairs. It's the song, A Mouse Lived in a Windmill.
There is never just one mouse.

Builders back in today and no holes behide the kitchen sink. That's all I had in the kitchen at the time. They are now fitting the kitchen. Only one trap was set off but no mouse on it. Got pest control coming in the morning to.

Is this mouse poo? I went to the house this morning and one of the traps had gone off and there was blood on the floor. I have gone in found what I believe to be mouse poo only these 2 though no more as I seen. I put some poison down that I got from asda and some fresh bait on the traps. Pest control are coming tomorrow morning. I went upstairs today so I'm getting somewhere with my fear haha

Yes

PlotterOfPlots · 08/08/2016 21:59

Save those and show to the pest control person tomorrow. Don't google it any more tonight, just get some sleep. Let the experts handle it tomorrow. Good call IMO.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 08/08/2016 22:00

I wouldn't put poison down. It will crawl, off and die somewhere inaccessible and stink your house out!

CatherineDeB · 08/08/2016 22:02

I think they will have seen poo before plotter Grin, only joking.

Traditional traps are my choice - my sister asked me if I used humane traps, I told her that they were for townies!

Louw12345 · 08/08/2016 22:07

It's already down now and I'm not at the house. These are the only 2 drops we have found since we found it in the house since Saturday these where under the sofa.

Iv tried traps since Saturday and the clever little bugger manages to get away with not getting traped. If it's eats the pouch I will know and will know to look out for a dead mouse.

What are you baiting the traps with ?

I normally use a nice sticky dollop of peanut butter as they have to stay on the trap to eat it and then it goes off and you get them

Louw12345 · 08/08/2016 22:27

I used chocolate and raisons just what I seen on the internet. But tonight I have used mostly chocolate spread. And a chewit on a separate one

OP posts:
dobbythefuckingjizzelf · 08/08/2016 22:50

The chocolate spread should work the same way as peanut butter does in that it's sticky and they can't take it away so have to stay on trap and hopefully set it off

bojorojo · 09/08/2016 00:14

And...... Did you catch it???? 🐭

Louw12345 · 09/08/2016 08:50

Yesssssss I caught it with the chocolate spread. Wish I used it sooner but just didn't think how to put it on it. Going to leave more out tonight jus to make sure there was only one haha

I like a tiny piece of softish cheese .... Brie, Camembert etc., etc., well and truly squished onto the trap. I reckon they can smell it for miles.

Good news though Smile.

PlotterOfPlots · 09/08/2016 19:59

Well done OP! How did you get on with the pest controller?

OnePlanOnHouzz · 09/08/2016 20:06

I think I might have one too !!!

Grin
Louw12345 · 09/08/2016 21:46

Pest control came and told me some bad news. It was a chancer, a baby rat! And more than likely did come in the front door as he couldn't find any holes. I feel so dirty and upset absolutely mortified. The guy said it's just the one, there was no poo or wee or smell as there would be if there was more but. I'm unsure though, me and my mum have been to clean everywhere, iv put all my kitchen stuff away and laid more traps. Pest control said he will put bait down to help ease my mind. But I really don't think anything wI'll. I stayed around my kids or people all day so I haven't broke down in tears. I had just got my head around a mouse it's going to take even longer for a rat! 😷

OP posts:
PlotterOfPlots · 09/08/2016 22:01

You poor thing! Honestly rats are everywhere, our cats used to bring them in regularly. I thought from the poo and failed traps that it might be a rat but didn't want to freak you out.

Look at it this way: if it was just the one, as the pest controller thinks, then you now have no rodent problem :). Better one dead baby rat than a living family of mice still to deal with.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 09/08/2016 22:01

Oh god, at least it's dead!

Louw12345 · 09/08/2016 23:32

It was very a clever one. The guy said if the bait is big they flick it off with their tail. So just put abit on now. My bedroom is downstairs and I'm so scared to sleep in there. I feel silly but I can't help how I feel. I know yeah just glad it's hopefully just one. I'm still stating at my mums though for now. My mum was like where was it coz we moved every thing I was like mum I don't care it's dead haha. I'm not even telling my kids what it was. Iv been told to maybe wait till the works done in the house with the builders be4 going back. Atleast there will be no food and water about for them if not then.
