Floor painting cock-up, is there a remedy?

Yeah, not only am I a computer thickie (see name) but also a diy thicky too. Yesterday i painted an old pine floor white that had previously been varnished. I gave it a light sand but didn't use a primer/sealer because it's a large area & I couldn't be bothered. Today I've just seen that the pine colour has bled through the white, largely where the old furniture used to sit, strangely. Anyway, is there an easy remedy? Will a second coat really cover it or not? I suspect not. I can't face sanding such a large area, besides the paint isn't cured yet. I used 'Coo-var' white floor paint from the local builders depot.

I'm bumping this to see if anyone has advice. I'm just about to paint my floors...

Sounds as though it needs priming and re-painting. You may have to sand back the flooring paint. Is there a suitable Zinsser primer? Their products are excellent ime.

Sand back, prime to seal and repaint Flowers

you never know if there is wax or oil in the floor. Paint will not stick to them. It doesn't work well on varnish either.

Sanding off is probably best, but I agree you could email Zinsser's help desk, they have a range of primers for difficult surfaces, or ask the paint maker for advice.
