How long to get broadband in new house?

Just curious how long it took for your broadband provider to get your internet installed and switched on at new house.

Got a little panicky when a friend said it took hers 2 weeks last month, I run a business from home and can probably have a day with no internet but ultimately, no internet no business, I've looked into a dongle but of course we are moving to the middle of nowhere and there is no 3G signal at new house.

When I called Plusnet they said if we give them enough notice they can do it when we move in but Im not sure if I believe them!

Any real life experiences appreciated we can probably give them 3-4 weeks notice of our completion date.

Vodafone - I meant a "radio" connection, like a mobile phone, not resold BT copper.
I see what you mean like 3G & 4G dongles. I only got confused because Vodafone have diversified into cable broadband.

Friend who moved house at Christmas (19th December) had an absolute nightmare with his broadband - BT took over 6 weeks with lots of broken promises inbetween. They'd transferred his telephone account as notified but denied all knowledge about the broadband - on a number of different occasions - despite emails which confirmed his broadband "order" Confused

Having said that, he had a problem with his speeds recently and they came out and fixed it within a day, dramatically improving his speed - despite part of the problem apparently being his internal wiring.

We're with Plusnet. When we moved they said the same, it sounded easy. But they messed up and it took them 5 weeks to connect us!
We had an account with them already (Fibre Optic plan) and when we moved they said "oh yeah, you're in a fibre optic area so the engineer will go and switch it on" (something like that), can't remember the technicalities ). Well, engineer came but he said he couldn't switch anything on because there were no cables in the house.. So then they had to talk to BT to run some cables and then finally, once that was sorted, the engineer came to do the connection.
I was furious but as we were with them already we waited and we got a a refund for the weeks we had no broadband, and we managed to get 3 months free.
Just make sure you call them and everything is clarified so that you don't have a bad surprise. Life without internet is hard! Confused

Yummy well done. Plusnet here as well. Not a new home but they somehow allowed the line to be cut off so had to get BTW out. Over two months but I was too tired to argue when they refused a refund.
