Garden Clearance Responsibility?

We should be exchanging on our property next week and then completely the week after. We have just been to measure up at the property (it is vacant). The owners have completely cleared the house since we last viewed it which is great
However, garden is completely overgrown. With all the sunshine and rain it is like a jungle. There are quite a few trees in the garden and you just cannot get in it. Both front and back.
When we made it offer it was March time and the garden was never bare but you could easily walk around it.
I mentioned this in passing to the estate agent when we went to hand back the keys and she said she could speak to the vendor.
I don't want to rock the boat so close to exchange but it is going to be thousands of pounds sorting this out otherwise.
Is it the vendors responsibility to keep the garden presentable?

As the one present in the conversation, when handing back the keys to the EA, I said 'the garden is very over grown'. Myself and DH were talking about it to each other on the way and deciding how we would clear it. The EA then said 'it is the vendors responsibility to keep the garden in order as it is still their house'.
I did not go there with the intention of getting the vendor the clear their garden. I was merely surprised by how overgrown it was.
We have spoken to our solicitor who has told us not to rock the boat this near to exchange which we agreed.

I agree it doen't look toooooo awful.

You can buy a strimmer / hedge trimmer for not too much cash and do multiple tip trips to dispose of the cuttings. It would be a big days work for one of you whilst the other watched the kiddies somewhere out of the way of the strimmer!

(tip: buy cordless, I cheaped out and got a corded one and it was a total PITA and I kept nicking the cord with the cutter)

We gradually cleared a very overgrown garden. It's helpful to be able to identify what you'd like to keep and then take out what you don't like. We got a teenager to help us with clearing some areas but did the rest ourselves at weekends or after work. It was very rewarding! Enjoy your new home.
