Due to complete next week semi detached house . I hate carpets and want to pit laminate flooring upstairs expect on the landing and stairs .
Will it be very noisy ? Has anyone put good quality underlay that reduces sound ?

Use tredaire underlay to help reduce sound transfer. the website is great and has detailed info about which ones are best for acoustics.

Yes, if it's all hard surfaces the acoustics are very unhelpful for anyone with a hearing problem.

Laminate will be slippery, how about wood or vinyl with acoustic insulation underneath?

I agree with carpets being manky...

We have laminate in a bedroom and bathroom that was already here. Recently ripped up carpets and sanded floorboards. They look way better than the laminate which shows up spills or sweaty foot prints or anything really. And it's SO SLIPPY.

Our stairs are in the middle of the house but I have never been bothered by the sound of non carpeted floors. Some people seem very sensitive about it.

you need to put proper underlay and it will be fine. for dc's room we used a double layer of those felt clicky mats.
dc can have a roller disco without us hearing much underneath.
