We are doing a big renovation to move in to with our family and I need to make a decision now on ovens and am really struggling. Good cooks out there (I am not one sadly) would you choose a range oven or go for a double oven? What brands do you think are the best. Any words of wisdom appreciated.

Ok - be sure not to have the top oven installed above your shoulder height - as you loose strength in your arms when lifting past this point - and you don't want to drop a hot plate of soup on you !!

My mum is short (like me haha) and had her tall oven cabinet customised to make sure the upper oven/microwave wasn't too high. The usual layout can be a bit high if you think it might be trays of fat or heavy casseroles. Really you want chest level not eye level. Another example of something designed for a standard person ie. a man....

If you have the space think about having 2 single ovens next to each other at eye level. My mum has this and it's genius. The only frustrating thing is that there is no way to sync the clocks so they are about 30 seconds out of sync...

And following tava's comment - what I mean is that the top of the oven is at eye level. So you don't have issues lifting things in and out.

mrsmortis this is what I have. 2 Neffs with the slide under doors. I set the clocks by doing it with DP or DS, 1 each.
