Why do estate agents take such manipulative photos?

If any estate agents are reading this: just please fucking stop!

I'm wasting so much time lining up viewings only to get there and find that the rooms are actually the size of a small cupboard. When we remarked on how one room looked ridiculously bigger in the photos the estate agent laughed and said "oh yes, another win for my photo skills!"

I'm spending ages trying to visualise the room dimensions from the measurements in the description/floor plan (not that there even always is a floor plan). And even those are coming out a bit off!

Surely distorting the photos is just false representation? And generally shitty. Just stop!!!

Wowo...... that's probably why it has 2 EA's now?!?

Donatellalymanmoss that's the exact opposite:
You had photos that made the property look worse than reality so when you viewed you were happily surprised.
These are photos that make the property look better than reality so when I view I'm pissed off that I wasted my time disappointed.

I was responding to Trills. I do understand the disappointment, although I'm always a little surprised at the expectations people have for how much they can tell about a house from an online listing.

I find round here (London) they distort the proportions so much the rooms all look like they have at least one diagonal side. They're like the Crooked House on the front at Southend. If you look at enough of them, they give you a fucking migraine

also- the filters! Ours made our cute but poky victorian worker's house look palatial

I swear whenever we sell again I'm going to insist on front view/back view/floorplan

Funnily enough we had a situation when we were looking to buy were the other half wanted to view this one I house and I didn't really want to cause it looked tiny.

It was the flaming tardis!! Massive rooms compared the photos. Was fuming when we got outbid.
