Shall we open this up completely or make it a cupboard?

Hello

We have a half landing which is 1.6m by 1.6 m with a big window so we are creating a study in this area. We've discovered that to the left of the area behind a wall is quite a large open space ( 2.5 m by 1.6m) but with half head height for one foot then dropping into the eaves. My husband wants to create a cupboard out of this area to put shelving to hide all our books and printer etc but I think it could be better opening up completely to make the floor area bigger.

What's your opinion?

Right. Much better idea of the space now 😁

I'd put a skylight window in.

Eave cupboards from where the roofline drops to approximately 1m. Built in shelving - but think long & hard about what you want to put in there first.

Then deep shelves either side for the printer, books etc. Keep the landing space uncluttered.

What's the other side of the right hand side wall? Neighbours maybe?! Or maybe just enough space for a nice deep bookcase....>whistles innocently

I'm still trying to convince DH... It's been opened up more today and would be so nice completely open imo

That looks like a huge space! It's not what I was imagining when you said half head height
