I really like the second one, apart from the chair and toilet seat. It's airy and clean-looking but also looks warm and relaxing. It's a shame the bath isn't in this one!

The first one is fine, it's a fairly generic 'new bathroom' and I'd be perfectly happy with it in my house.

I think the blind in bathroom 2 would look better in bathroom 1 (if that's even an option).

MrsDarcy4092 · 26/04/2016 14:25

I totally agree when the first one is finished we need to get accessories in and towels etc to give it a lift.

Aw, one magnumisneverenough I am jealous of your low maintenance new build!

I find the first one a bit clinical. I feel it needs something to soften it. The second one is more my taste.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 26/04/2016 14:30

Low maintenance I guess in terms of an old property but high maintenance from the fact that the materials used are cheap so look tatty really quickly. We've been in it 12 years and had to replace all the bathrooms, the kitchen is falling apart, the doors are like cardboard, nothing is straight including the radiators, the crappy sockets are all loose, if the lock on the front door breaks again we'll need a complete new door as they already don't make parts for it. It's not what you would call built to last :o

Perbsy · 26/04/2016 14:34

I like the second one, apart from the loo seat and the chair, I think the colour of the wood clashes with the floor. I would get a new loo seat and paint the chair a paler colour. < I do like to paint stuff though>

The first one is a nice bathroom, but with less character.

MrsDarcy4092 · 26/04/2016 14:40

oh wow onemagnumisneverenough thats so interesting to know. WE have always had old houses and were thinking next time we will buy a new build but maybe we should rethink...

thanks Perbsy. THats exactly my thoughts! I might change the toilet seat to white and paint the chair the same colour as the woodwork. And in the other bathroom when its finished it needs a blind and some accessories to finish it off. In my mind the first bathroom is nice but safe and boring. I doubt anyone will hate it but they wont love it either, it ticks the box. Seeing as we don't plan to stay here forever though thats a good thing as we don't want to put anyone off. The second bathroom is more me, i love it. The first one has lots of modern features like wired in bluetooth speakers and light sensored LED lights.

Funny enough in my opinino both are easy to clean. Showers are normally a nightmare to clean but both of these are frameless shower doors whic are so easy to keep clean. its really quick.

Sorry, I also feel a bit Blush about asking who puts a chair in the bathroom. You, obviously Blush - I thought you were deciding which look to go for and had stolen pics off the internet for inspiration.

BasinHaircut · 26/04/2016 14:44

The first one is boring but nice if that makes sense.

I love the second but yes change the toilet seat!

If you have both then lucky you!

MrsDarcy4092 · 26/04/2016 14:45

Haha!! Don't worry namechangedtoday . That made me laugh Smile

I wouldn't say never buy a new build but pick a good builder, check the quality of the fittings and get them back to do all the snagging. we bought 2 new builds in a row. The first we moved into new and it was really good, we got them back to do all the little bits and when we sold it to move not much more than a year later, despite having two toddlers, it was immaculate. The one we moved to was the same age as the one we sold but hadn't been looked after and even in the short time was already in a much worse state. They hadn't done any of the snagging despite us including that in the terms of purchase and so it's not great. We bought it for it's position and garden though so just had to suck it up unfortunately. It was also absolutely manky and full of rubbish when we got the keys. :( Consequently all these years later I still don't really like it.

Perbsy · 26/04/2016 14:54

We think alike MrsD, you have excellent taste. Wink

RoastieToastieReastie · 26/04/2016 16:19

They are both nice. I personally much prefer the second one but that's just that it's more my taste. The first one is quite bland to me and the second one feels more homely. Both very nice though. Is that a fancy remote control by the shower in the first one? Very fancy!

MrsDarcy4092 · 26/04/2016 18:37

Thank you! It's a remote control for the Bluetooth system.

I like both, but mainly because ours is so shabby at the mo anything looks lovely in comparison. Would you mind telling me where you got the first suite from please - I'm in bathroom research hell at the moment Grin

OneMagnumisneverenough · 26/04/2016 20:36

This is mine - teeny tiny bathroom - I don't have photos of the en-suite as it's so small I can't get the angle to show anything :)

I think it's down to taste, I get why you've done this, I loved modern and trad, and I'm doing four bathrooms at the mo. Eventually I went with all trad (like bath 2) as I thought it might look like we'd only replaced some of them. But I'm still unsure if I should've gone modern :/

MrsDarcy4092 · 27/04/2016 06:55

Thanks. The first suite is from a mix of places as we sourced it all individually. The vanity is made by keuco, toilet is b and q and bath I think is Victoria plum.

Onemagnum your bathroom is lovely. Very fresh and bright.

I love the blue floral wallpaper, but wonder if it seems incongruous in that bathroom?

kissedbyamoonbeam · 06/05/2016 08:23

Love the wallpaper. It really suits and lifts the room.
Are you happy with them both? I like them. I'm liking the idea of bluetooth. I have done a few bathrooms now and they are now my favourite rooms to do.

MrsDarcy4092 · 06/05/2016 08:45

I'm happy with them both. The first bathroom is more my style but I think I just need to find the right accessories for the first one to lift it and give it a personality. It's new so we haven't got the personality in yet... But we will!

MrsDarcy4092 · 06/05/2016 08:51

I meant the guest room is more my style

I love the clean lines of the first room. Out of interest, where did you get the wall tiles from for the first bathroom? I like that they're contemporary yet fairly neutral iyswim
