That the bath is full size. It took me until I moved several years later to be able to extend my legs and I am only average height.

*To extend my legs in a normal bath I mean.

What the parking situation is outside - is there enough, especially if you are in a cul-de-sac, for example.

If buying a semi or a terrace, try to visit when everyone's home in the evenings to see how much noise transfers/whether there's any soundproofing.

As a naive (and quite desperate) FTB I didn't think of either of these and am repenting at leisure!

Also, think what kind of situation you are happy with. I've bought a place in a very quiet spot, having lived in towns and cities for ages, and it is too quiet. I'd like a bit of road noise to be honest! Otherwise my house is great. Big rooms, loads of storage space and a lovely SW-facing garden.

Another mention for light. My first house was a semi & had a kitchen extension so there was no window in the dining room & the lounge faced north-east making it quite a dark house most of the time.

I wish I knew not to buy it! And I wish I knew that estate agents lie, and them casually telling me that there were already two asking price offers didn't mean that there actually were.

Lesson learned, went in 25k under asking on our next house!
