TBH I'd be quite happy if it is because we have loads of it and plan to sell soon. Some of the images in the link do look good....verdict?

I'll join the debate! We have a lot of Lincrusta/Anaglypta (not sure which!) in our late Victorian terrace. Do we keep it or not? I do like the design but it has been over painted so many times, can it ever look really good again? OTOH, I'm scared of removing character if we get rid. Help!

As I too have heavy duty patterned wall all over my new house I declare it as back in fashion. I am however removing it from the main reception room ceilings as that is just too much.

I so wish this was a baby name thread!

I wouldn't get rid of lincrusta but I wouldn't like anaglypta. You can tell which is which by pressing your nail into a raised bit of pattern. Lincrusta pattern is made by using plaster and won't indent.

lavendersun · 16/04/2016 08:12

I would say that yours was lincrusts just from the lovely period patterns. You use oil paint on lincrusta, I love it, can you tell. Will be fab with a new coat of paint.

When we stripped our hallway we kept and replaced where damaged the anaglypta below the dado (they still sell all their original patterns so we were able to buy the victorian pattern that was there). We then painted it black, with white woodwork and a pale cream plain wall above the dado. It looks stunning. It gives the black some depth and manages to give a traditional look with a contemporary twist.

I would have said no way but some of the examples on that link are gorgeous!!

Posy yours is lovely 😮 I had never seen it like that before.

Some ideas here OP

I have got a roll spare from two houses ago, sad I know but it is really expensive these days, about £160 a roll. Thought I could find a use for it but never have.

lavendersun · 16/04/2016 13:58

This one just looks like it went wrong, very wrong ....

I too would have said a huge no way but love it in those links I have been trying to decide what to do with some of the rooms in my house avoiding big flowery patterns but didn't want plain walls.
I'm going for it.

randomcatname · 16/04/2016 19:09

Alright that's it official then! Anaglypta and lincrusta are IN. My house is SO en vogue!

I love those in the link lavendersun posted but who seriously has the time for that??

No kidding, my house now doesn't need walls in the hall and dining room stripped. We had painted it all and it looks nice, but I wondered if it would hinder the sale. Maybe not!
