Does anyone have a porcelain patio?

Is it really easier to look after?

I would like a stone patio but DH has been persuaded that porcelain will save us time in the long run since we don't have to seal it, it won't stain etc. Is this just hype or are they really that much easier to maintain?

The patio will cover a large area and we are in woodland and so we do get a lot of staining from leaves.

We have just moved to a house with a fairly large porcelain patio. I thought it was going to be slippery but I went out in my flip flops when it was wet and it wasn't at all slippery. My toddler got blackberries on it and they have washed off well after being left overnight.
I'm a convert and I think they look much better and easier to clean than the stone we had in our precious house

To those with porcelain patios, can I ask what thickness the tiles are ? There's a trend to 20mm outside but our local tile importer says this is manufacturers selling more expensive thicker ones when 10mm ones are fine.

I've been in a similar situation, trying to decide between stone and porcelain for our patio. We also live in an area with lots of trees, and the staining from leaves was a big concern for us. After a lot of research and speaking with several homeowners, we decided to go with porcelain.

In our experience, porcelain paving slabs are much easier to maintain compared to natural stone. You don't have to worry about sealing them, and they don't stain as easily. We've had our porcelain patio for a couple of years now, and it still looks as good as new despite the heavy leaf fall. Plus, it's very easy to clean – a simple wash with water usually does the trick. Given the size of your patio and the environment, porcelain might save you a lot of hassle and time in the long run. If you're considering this option, you might want to look at this collection of porcelain paving slabs for some ideas.
