If you buy it, OP, do you think they'll send it in a douche-bag? Grin

Aliexpress

Herewegoagainfolks · 31/03/2016 19:37

It's quite pretty for a plastic light but it would never occur to me that it cost more than £500.

So I suppose it depends on whether you need it to look expensive as well as be expensive. Grin

My concern would also be that it might date very quickly.

lljkk · 31/03/2016 19:54

They saw you coming, OP...

Greengager · 31/03/2016 20:02

No way it looks nice but not £500 nice for that you could have something amazing like these www.johnlewis.com/tom-dixon-melt-pendant-ceiling-light/p2039630?sku=234526508&kpid=234526508&s_kenid=6b336945-858c-3a49-eaf7-000036a8fb4c&s_kwcid=404x1482277&tmad=c&tmcampid=73 which my DH has also vetoed on price.

Danglyweed · 31/03/2016 20:11

£500 quid for a fucking lightshade? Wtaf? Thats beyond ridiculous

StuRedman · 31/03/2016 20:13

Oh god they saw you coming. Please don't.

Fairylea · 31/03/2016 20:18

ShockShockShock

Good god no. There's no way I'd pay £500 for a light shade. That's more than double my whole living room cost to redecorate.

GrandmaJosephine · 31/03/2016 20:23

The big chain stores do lights with decoration inside so the outer lamp shows that pattern. I do like your one but not for that price.

I feel your pain. My dream sofa was !£2.5k. I couldn't justify it for a sofa so I think £500+ for a lampshade is ridiculous.

HerRoyalNotness · 31/03/2016 20:26

It's really lovely.

As a warning, I had a similar, smaller, cheaper cutout acrylic shade that DH was installing for me, he managed to drop it and snap off some of the pieces. Brand new! Grrrr.

ClarenceTheLion · 31/03/2016 20:33

I thought it looked pretty until someone posted the pic of the chunky plastic staples holding it together. I think you can do much better for that money OP...

Georgina1975 · 31/03/2016 20:33

No. Don't do it.

I have a well deserved reputation for gravitating towards the expensive - currently have my eye on this: www.tomraffield.com/products/ceiling-lights/scots-light.php.

But £500+ for acrylic (where the attachment rods can be seen on the outside too) - nooo.

BastardGoDarkly · 31/03/2016 20:40

Yikes, that's bloody expensive for what it is. My dh would literally shit a brick if I spent that on a light shade.

thesilentone · 31/03/2016 21:51

I think it's hilarious you're taken aback by the Ikea comparison, when the shop selling your lamp is called Skandium and says its aim is to sell Scandinavian style items. Ikea is mainly modern scandi style.

Imo you should buy the lamp if you can easily afford it and you want it that badly. But if £500+ is a lot of money to you then buying it would be a serious waste of money.

MsRinky · 31/03/2016 21:52

I confess that I would consider spending that kind of money on a lampshade, but not that lampshade.

MirandaWest · 31/03/2016 21:56

If you feel your DH would flip at the price then it costs too much. And there are cheaper options available

OneFoxNoChickens · 31/03/2016 22:07

Go to the vet. Get three dog cones and a stanley knife. Twenty quid tops especially if you take the knife back saying it doesn't work Grin

SuburbanRhonda · 31/03/2016 22:24

It's very lovely but it's nowhere near £500 lovely. And as for almost £1k for the big one Confused
