New stove/range - is there anywhere to try them out?

Hi all, we are planning our new kitchen and we're keen to get a range cooker. I was thinking of getting gas as that's what I'm used to but all the shops are suggesting I go with an induction one (tbh I never knew those existed!). However I don't want to agree to an induction hob and then struggle to use it/dislike it. Is there anywhere where you can go and try out the different stoves?

Any ideas?

I don't know the answer to your question but I went from Gas to induction and would never go back. It's almost, but not quite, as controlable as gas. Maybe add four seconds to the response time if you turn the heat up or down.

It's much easier to keep clean and looks sleek.

Would John Lewis have some to try out in their kitchens?

Any other ideas? There must be somewhere that does this! I may call Stoves and Rangemaster and ask them!

I recently went from gas to induction ( rangemaster Toledo)-can't praise it highly enough. My builder said people never go from gas to electric, but with induction it's as responsive as gas, and you can just wipe over (no more removing plates/grills). I've never looked back ( I couldn't try cooking on them in store, if that's how thorough you were hoping to be, but a local large Curry's had the full range so I was able to have a play about before deciding. Might be worth a Google).

You can buy a cheap plug in induction hob - actually we got ours whilst our kitchen was out of action. I was surprised how well I got on with it, cast iron heats up amazingly, certain stainless pans with "induction insert" were a bit useless. I did stick to dual fuel for my new cooker but if I'd been getting an inset hob I'd definitely have considered it. It still comes out at Christmas sometimes.
