Bathroom - jungle or more ''fresh'' ?

We're in the process of renovating our newly bought home (first time buyers - big renovation project), and having totally redone the layout of the downstairs, we're starting to think about the upstairs. We were going to just leave in the bathroom suite and retile, but frankly it spoils the place, it's fairly new (

extralemony I absolutely adore that wallpaper, isn't it the replica one from a hotel which is very famous but I forget the name in America? It was actually my first choice for the bathroom but it's only available in the USA Envy .

Kitsmummy your bath is bloody gorgeous, I love the colour. Can I ask where you got the geometric mirrors, they're great! I agree, I really love the glass tiles (did you get the sample or see them in store? I think they're even more lovely seeing them in person) but something was just too "beach theme" about the whole thing.

Kiwi, thanks, the vintage mirrors were a job lot in an auction. I went up to the fired earth outlet in Banbury where I got a sample of the glass tiles from, But ultimately ended up going with their marble metro and flagstones (both were half price). It's really worth a visit if it's at all practical for you to get there

colours are fun!

freestanding baths went out for a reason, though. Endless awkward cleaning in spaces that will be very hard or impossible to reach. Be careful.

A freestanding bath and a corner toilet?! Is there a proper shower somewhere else in the house? Will you ever want to resell?

The wallpaper is cool, I agree with those suggesting a more neutral tile. I think my parents had those red ones in a kitchen - everything old is new again!

No plans to sell, and if we did it'd be far enough in the future to make it preferable to have a bathroom that works for us (rather than generic resale) for the time being. I'd personally prefer a big walk in shower if anything but it's apparently not going to be practical with young DC. House came with planning permission for an extension so might add a shower room in the future if we go ahead with building.

What's wrong with a corner toilet? Free standing bath I sort of see that it's not to everyone's liking, but a built in bath looks seriously naff in this bathroom because of the size and window positioning. Corner toilet makes sense space wise as it'd mean we could actually fit in a radiator.

Hmm. I think there is a middle ground between completely generic for resale and wildly impractical but individual. But if resale isn't an issue for you at all, then go with what you like, if you see no issue with the corner loo, then go for it.

If you want me to be brutally honest about why I persoanlly wouldn;t like it - from the point fo view of someone looking around a house with a view to buy - I would think... why on earth have they squeezed a freestanding bath in this tiny bathroom, while putting in a weird toilet like something from a ship's cabin. Also, where am I going to have a shower and bath two kids without splashng masses of water all over the floor, and potentially not spotting any leaks because of all the awkward spaces the freestanding bath in a tiny bathroom creates and how am I going to clean it with all the manky crevices created by this bath ion this type of space and presumably a non-back to wall toilet?

But like I said, you possibly are not worried about potential buyers' opinions, so you should go fot what you like.
