What is the cheapest way to get rubbish removed?

We have just had a new kitchen and have two fireplaces, some polystyrene and cardboard to shift.

What is the best/most cost effective way to shift it? I thought a van might do it, but have been quoted £220-£250 minimum - I said I'd hoped I could do it for £150 and the woman on the phone said they could do that but it would only be half the van..!

Anyone tried Hippobags or should I just swallow it and get a skip?

Put the kitchen on gumtree, I picked one up from there to use as units in my garage!

I had loads of stuff in my garage. I phoned our local SERCO and they came and assessed and gave me a price to take it away, it was about £60 two years ago. It was lots of broken furniture bags of rubble etc

cardboard will fold up and go in your recycling bin, or you can take it to the tip in your car. It is clean and light.

With a big hammer you can reduce a kitchen to a pile of rectangular pieces of chipboard. They are heaby but you can lift them easily one at a time and put them in a catr to take to the tip.

polystyrene you can take to the tip in your car. Put it in black bags if it is broken or in small pieces.

Rubble you will probably be charged for. You can buy heavy grade rubble sacks at builders merchants or DIY sheds. Find out the charge and other terms while you are at the tip with your other stuff. Empty the bags and take home to re-use.
