Calling all new conservatory roof owners!!!

Has anyone had replaced their polycarb conservatory with a new roof in the last few years?
Did you go for glass/solid roof or something else?
Has it made much difference to how usable it is in summer and winter?

Our UPVC conservatory is 6m x 3m and i've had a quote for glass roof today for 10K on the phone. Is that reasonable? We'd love to have an extension but that is completely out of the question due to various reasons so refreshing the old conservatory is the best we can do to make the room usable instead of a junk room

We had our conservatory built 2 years ago and the cost was £13,500 in total, for 15 ft x 10 ft room with Activ Blue glass roof. It is south facing and we use it all year round. The glass self cleans. The tint isn't noticeable. Make sure base and walls have good insulation - my friend ' s conservatory does not have any (she watched it being built) and it's freezing. We put two electric radiators in there but within about 30 minutes of having one on the room is warm even on winter nights. We have a small air conditioning unit (from Costco) to help cool the room on hot summer days and open the windows and doors. We don't have blinds. The polycarbonate roofs degrade very quickly and make rooms look dark and are very noisy when it rains. I really recommend a glass roof.

I meant to add that we chose a small local company. No salesmen, they just came round, discussed what we wanted, measured up and sent us a quote. Prior to that we had other companies giving us lengthy sales presentations and crazy prices which they could reduce a bit if we signed up there and then, far too stressful and we wanted to think it through properly. Pleased that we found a small local company and checked their work out first before accepting the quote - they were in our local council's Trusted Trader Scheme and you could see references and even look at other conservatories nearby which they had done.

What are the sizes of your roof?

Has any one used Guardian Roofs Midlands, thinking of new warm roof but don’t know anyone who has had one or used this company. Help
