Gas hob connection/deconnection

The gas to my gas hob has been capped. I have a new gas hob. But need to remove the old hob. As it's capped can I take the old hob out myself?

No, you will need a gas safe engineer to remove old hob and then fit new hob

Ah ok thank you

You said the pipe had been capped. If you mean the gas pipe to your old hob has already been professionally disconnected, you can do whatever you want with the old hob.

The new one, if gas, will need to be professionally connected.

piglet there is a fault with my gas hob. It's still fitted in. But it's been capped. So could this mean the gas hob is still connected. But has a cap. So means I can't remove the old hob?

I don't know what you mean by "capped." To me it means an unused pipe has been sealed closed at the end and is no longer connected to anything.
