Toughest material for Kitchen Worktop?

I need to order a 5 metre worktop and wondered what the current recommendations are, won't be going for laminate, and have a a budget of just under 2k?

We have marble in our kitchen - no idea what it cost as it was in the house when we bought it. It is undamaged and must have been here at least 10 years, is totally heat proof and easy to keep clean. A quick google suggests it could well be in budget if you shop carefully.

Thanks, what about stain resistance, from what I hear granite/quartz/marble are all fairly similar in their resilience, maybe I am looking for the Holy Grail :)

What you want is Quartz.

It is not what I have. I have Corian as I couldn't afford Quartz. I still love my white Corian, it is seamless with the sink and drainer. It is tactile and not cold. It doesn't shatter stuff when I put it dos. It's hygienic and I can bleach and refinish Corian. I got my Corian direct from the fabricator. It was a half or third of Quartz. You can't easily repair marble and granite, or use some common cleaning chemicals IIRC.

I don't know that you can get 5m of Quartz with sink/drainer for £2k btw. Is this one piece? That can be an issue with stone. I got about that in two lengths, one join and double sink for about £1250 in Corian.

Not sure if they have to use two pieces, but I have been quoted fully fitted with cut outs and drainers, £1800.

If that's with the VAT templating fitting and finishing it sounds a great deal! I couldn't have stretched further but would have had Quartz if I could have. Love my Corian though, I went for the 60mm and extra depth/width also and it looks great

i installed a pale quartz (coco by compac) in my last kitchen, and inherited white corian in my current kitchen, staining isn't an issue tbh, a bottle of barkeepers friend will sort it out and also the surfaces can be repaired too, not so possible with natural stone.
