recommendation for hardwood floor vacuum cleaner

aprilshowerssoon · 28/12/2015 20:56

Been struggling with a very poor quality vax for months and have had enough of it. Please can someone recommend a vacuum for majority hard wood and tiles and a bit of carpet. I thought that a cylinder would be better than an upright but not sure. Any recommendations? Thanks very much.

Buy a Henry. Does the job brilliantly, plus you get a smiley face!

Cordless Dyson Grin

someone just lent me a henry - I did not think it was great at all - did not seem to have that much power in it - are there different (quality) henry hoovers? Thanks.

I don't like Henrys! I have had one for years!

Bosch Athlet, it's amazing!

YeOldeTrout · 29/12/2015 11:12

Are the dysons any good on a large expanse of hardwood floor though? Don't you need the wand bit? thanks v much

Just roll up the brushes on the Dyson not to damage them & carry on. Still need the wand for corners, any type of flooring.

I love my hetty, rubbish on carpet but great on hard floors.

OliviaBenson · 29/12/2015 11:30

Because it's really really quiet, lightweight and cordless with a long battery life. Sorts out all our floors (wooden and carpet) and we have 2 dogs and cleans their hair up really well.

I love my Henry for wood flooring, carpets and tiles

reallybadidea · 29/12/2015 11:37

I had a Henry. I thought he was good until I got a miele. A completely different league. The only quibble I have is that the cord could do with being a bit longer.

aprilshowerssoon · 29/12/2015 13:02

which Miele do you have? thanks

Miele, Miele, Miele. No contest. Just get the most powerful cylinder one you can get. Mine is a few years old and the power may be reduced in newer models. Look at John Lewis or other retailers to see customer reviews on up to date models. Mine does wood, carpets, tiles etc with no fuss at all and cleans very well. They last forever too. Just don't buy the cordless GTech (I think that was its name). It was totally useless. Just pushed the fluff around and left it on the floor. Henry's are gutless and are cheap for a reason!

reallybadidea · 29/12/2015 14:26

I think I've got this one

Twittwattwoo2 · 29/12/2015 15:54

Definitely Miele, I've had one for 8 years and it's still great, not sure which model, it's a Cat & Dog one.

We got an upright Dyson when we moved as I was going through loads of bags from the fluff on the new carpets. It's heavy and faffy and I don't like it.

JT05 · 29/12/2015 16:18

I had a Miele Evolution for about 15 years. It was very good, Miele even refurbished it for £99 when it became weary. It finally died. I bought the Henry after seeing someone else's. It does have a turbo button.

Amara123 · 29/12/2015 23:03

I bought a navy coloured miele recently which is specially for hard floors. It is fab! The head swivels really effectively so hoovering is really easy. I love it and wouldrerecommend.

Cordless Dyson animal. Great on everything. Love it. Best household buy ever.
