What's the etiquette when you have builders in?

We're having a stove put in our living room. The guys are here for 2 days. They turned up at 9, I had a chat with them, made them a brew and then went out for 2 hours as was noisy and wasn't fair on dd (2).
Dd fell alseep in car so I'm now home again hiding in my bedroom on mn!
I've had another chat and made them another brew but starting to feel a bit lost!
Should I go out again? Do I hang about amd watch?

We have just had some building completed. I tended to be here when they started early in the morning anyway then let them know about my plans (usually in and out during the day) so they knew where I was.

Saying that though, I'm in the process of having a kitchen fitted really badly by a company (currently in the fifth week and still not finished). I found out that they sent one fitter one day who had started the day before and they didn't really know from Adam. He hacked two of the cupboards apart and has set us back a further week. I have since taken my keys off them and told them they can only attend, accompanied, at prearranged times and dates.

they love leaving the front door on the latch Mine does this, every time. He'll run cables out the front door for power tools, leave the front door wide open and disappear back up the stairs leaving his van wide open with the tools out, my front door wide open and a blaring radio. The 4 horsemen of the apocalypse could ride in and he wouldn't hear them.

Mine are still being great, worked til 7.30 last night, asked if I'd leave the dehumidifier on overnight and paid to top up my electric meter for it, and took my bins out this morning, just because.
