If you want a bare plaster wall in your bathroom

How do you waterproof it?

Anyone know?

I read that you can cover it in linseed oil, but then it would make it very difficult to paint etc if you wanted to eventually.

True. I'm projecting my depression at living with bare plaster in some places for 4+ years

Waterproof PVA

Hully, if you are where I think you are (near mack rolls!) try Brewers - they are amazingly helpful & know all the tricks of the trade re decorating.

PVA is what I've been told as well.

Thanks all, I've decided it's simpler to completely change my plan...

How about polished concrete? (other suppliers are available.

I looked up Tadelakt the other day, you can buy it online in the UK. I'm considering using it when we do our bathrooms after moving.

I've just looked it up...most interesting.

We've just had our bathroom done with béton ciré, it looks and feel amazing. Very tactile and 'lively'

Hullygully · 02/11/2015 17:25

Any chance of a pic?

I just painted my bathroom Little Greene Julie's Dream because I loved the plaster colour. True it doesn't have the variation of raw plaster but I love the colour and am really pleased with it!!

Hullygully these were taken at twilight - so not the best lighting, and the vanity is of course still a WIP. It's a very dark grey, but you can get any colour you like. Very soothing.

That is really nice. Funnily enough your floor tiles are the ones dh wants (different colour tho).

Annoyingly the wall is already plastered so I don't think we can use it now. It will have to wait for the next house.

Have you done other exciting things?
