Do you need a mirror above a sink in the bathroom?

Planning our new shower room.

Visually the best layout would lead to the sink being under the window so obviously no mirror above the sink. Is this a massive no-no?

What we would do is have a tall mirrored cabinet to the side of the sink so there would still be a mirror in there, just not above the sink

I think its essential and was very disgruntled when our architect did not lay out our bathroom to allow for mirrors above sinks until I asked him to change....

Our sink unit is so wide that getting to see in the mirror will be a real stretch if it's above the sink

I was thinking that if you have a ledge on the windowsill, you could put a hinged mirror on stand there. As well as the usual make-up/shaving mirrors there is a design sometimes seen in bedrooms or dressing rooms, rectangular with a small drawer. It may have a name.

We have a window above our sink so we have a small mirror stood on the windowsill and a mirror on the wall to the side of the sink.
