How much to get a house connected to mains gas?

We're looking to move at the moment and one of the houses were seen isn't connected to the mains gas. Some of the houses on the estate are but not this one.

To make it a realistic option for us we would have to get it connected. Does anyone have any idea of the sort of costs involved in this?

You need to contact national grid you can do it all via there website they will give you a quote, I struggled because the questions I needed to answer I didn't understand ( not having any experience of gas connections!) I emailed to tell them this and someone rang me and went through the form with me and explained everything - it also worked out to be free for us ( because the house is in a deprived area or something?) the house (rental property) had been connected previously but had been disconnected due to previous owner owing ££££££'s and tampering with things (that's another story!) so had to be reconnected from scratch. If it hadn't have been free would have been around £200 I think if I remember correctly. When you get the date that they will start work get your chosen utility company to come and fit meter etc booked in for a few days after - this is free.
