Chopping food and I slipped, managed To chop a small chunk out of the formica, right in the centre of the run. Any ideas how I can repair it?

I don't know what colour it is, but a bit of epoxy resin (araldite) might be ok

Take a photo of your worktop to a kitchen shop or screw fix type place and get a mixed tube of coloured infill Smile

I would suggest epoxy resin too. Milliput is one and is very good - suitable for repairs in surfaces in contact with water and available in a limited number of different colours. Available from craft and art supplies shop. A little goes a long way. I've used it on a chipped shower tray, to fill a gap in a door frame, all sorts.

Use masking tape around the chip leaving only the area to be filled uncovered. Fill the chip with the resin, leaving it a bit higher than the top of the chip. When it's completely dry, use wet and dry paper wet (you can buy it in Screwfix) to gently sand the repair down to the level of the worktop.

Depending on the colour of the actual worktop you may need to paint the repair with a scratch repair paint - usually sold for laminate or vinyl repairs - to help it blend in.

The main thing is it will give a smooth, hygienic repair and water won't get into the chipped area and make the mdf/chipboard underneath swell.

Thank you, everyone.

There are companies that will repair worktops. The one round here is called magic man I think and sure there is one called plastic surgeon. They might do all over the country. You can send them a photo and they will quote. No idea if they are any good as ours was beyond repair but the pics on the website are impressive.

Tiddles not sure I can afford To have someone do it, but I'll have a look, hadn't thought of that. Thanks.
