Green stuff on copper pipes ~ Pigletjohn please

This morning I had low water pressure and while checking the boiler (fitted 10 months ago) I noticed the boiler copper pipes have green stuff on them. What could these be? Flux, leak or copper corrosion? Do I get a plumber in or simply wipe it off?

The plumber said low water pressure could be due to a small leak. We are getting hot water again now that we have topped up the boiler, but shouldn't the plumber look for why there is a leak?

I've turned off all the switches on the hob and oven and so the switch on the wall is just providing power to the appliance but the oven and hobs aren't switched on and its still tripping. I might leave it to try out more just incase its water.

could the cable be damaged?

Thanks Pigletjohn, the video is very helpful.

Oh I take it back. Its the front two switches on the hob tripping it. I hadn't noticed dd had left one of the hobs on so was still tripping. Is it safe to use the oven and other hobs if I leave the front two off?

do you think water has got in? If it was very clean water it may dry out safely, but food content may clog up the switches.

best to wait until the problem is corrected. You may need a cooker repairperson

Possibly water. The hob is fitted into the unit and its only one unit between the sink and the hob so its possible the kids have spilt water or juice as there is a small gap under the hob.

Thanks for all your help, I don't feel as much in despair tonight now I know which part is causing it.

Hi Pigletjohn, the pressure remains at 1.2 bar since Wednesday. This morning I decided to test the heating again and had it on for 40 minutes. The bar pressure went up to 1.7 and after switching off for an hour when the radiators were cold, the bar pressure was 1.3. Is that normal for it to raise 0.1 bar after heating has been used? Will it go back to 1.2 gradually?

it is within the usual range. If it goes above 2 or under 1, that is too far. About 1.5 when cold is OK.

Next time you have it serviced, or it gets worse, ask for the expansion vessel to be checked and if necessary pumped up.

If necessary you can have a new or additional vessel fitted, it can go on a pipe anywhere in the house.

Thanks, actually one of the radiators in the bedroom is still slightly warm. I'll check again when it's completely cold. My very first Combi boiler so I have no clues at all.

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
