flue lining

how much would you expect it to be to line a flue on a normal 3 bed 1960's house?, the chimney might not need it though, as its yet to be inspected by a competent person

Had the back boiler removed and a more efficient boiler installed in a better location for us to ignore the occasional start stop noise. So now have a hole crying out for a multi burner. Did a removal in old house 4 years ago, but that was when people still used dvd's blueray so the hole became a media storage area and as we moved to streaming and usb stored media the space became ever tempting to put a fire in, but with a planned move it was never cost effective and one more thing to have inspected now its rented out

If it's relatively straight up and down, it's not too horrendous. We have had two flues lined, many years apart; one simple, for which the contractor dropped a long balloon down the chimney and inflated it before pumping in the cement lining. The second, which involved a long dogleg, was much harder. IIRC (and it was two decades ago) the first cost about £400; the second, 10 years ago, was about £2,500. The only people we could find to tackle the second job came from a long way away to do it but it seems to have been a success. The alternative would have been dismantling and rebuilding the chimney stack, and the quote for that was £10,000 plus!
