Does this look like it could be extended?

Love this wee cottage but need 4 beds not 2! Anyone think of a clever way it could be extended?

I don't want to go and view (4 hrs away but in area we want to move to) if it would be a waste of their time and ours. Very sweet cottage if I could only make it bigger.

I think it would depend on your budget, whether it would be workable or not.
There is no mention of listing or conservation area but you work have to check with the local council.
As it's on a sloped plot there could be a lot of groundwork costs to factor in.
Looking at the layout I'd think you might want to enlarge the kitchen( or build a new kitchen/diner and use kitchen as 3rd bedroom) and build extension out from front door.

It would depend on the size of the plot as to how much of the garden you can eat into.

Sloped sites are more expensive due to foundations and removal of excess soil (I live on a sloped site and had a teeny 3.2m long x 2.5m wide extension and had to fill the void under the extension with 9 tonne of hardcore - plus they had to remove the soil so the grab wagon can only take 17 tonne at a time, he came 3 times for mine)

Cost wise you need to factor in delivery of supplies if you are rural and whether anyone else has managed to gain planning consent for an extension. It is a very sweet cottage but bedroom 2 is teeny.

It doesn't immediately look like a house that is a 'natural' extension opportunity.

The plot slopes and it's very visible from other houses so I'd expect huge objection to any works.

Why are you looking at 2 bed properties if you need 4? It's a massive difference.
