Karcher pressure washer, motor running but no water coming out ...

So I have bought a new K4 pressure washer for doing the car, just assembled it myself (reluctantly as DH is always too busy and I really wanted to clean the car while the weather is nice) and it worked for a few minutes and now it is not working. The motor is running but it is not drawing or spewing any water.

I am using water from a bucket rather than a hose as we don't have a hose pipe (should have got one, will get one tomorrow), it sucked up the first bucketful pretty quickly, I wonder if I have managed to get air in or something when it ran dry?

Shall try with a hose pipe tomorrow but in case that does not work, any ideas as not been able to get anything useful from website except 'disconnect/turn off/on' type suggestions.

Hope I have not buggered it on day one - help! Ta

They use a heck of a lot of water. I don't see how you could use water from a bucket. Is the bucket empty - if so, that's your problem

You really need a hose for this. I have the K4 pressure washer and it works like a dream, but I have a hose.

Mrs yes I was surprised how quickly that first bucket disappeared. With this one you can use harvested water such as in a water butt but ours is too far from our driveway so I thought I would use a bucket. I filled the bucket again but this time no water got sucked up. I am hoping a hose will sort it out tomorrow, so annoyed with myself as was all going so well with the rare bit of self assembly.

The difference is that with a hose, water is fed or forced into the pump. With a bucket, it would have to be sucked up.

A butt would contain copious amounts of water - a lot more than a small, or even a big, bucket.
