Where can I buy nice bathroom tiles?

Everything I've seen so far is grim. I've tried Topps and big DIY stores. Everything seems just badly printed and nasty.

What do you want? Metro, patterned, plain??

What sort of thing you want and your budget is pretty important info!

WhatKatyDidnt · 30/09/2015 22:38

Tons of Tiles has some nice stuff and is good value.

Pipbin · 30/09/2015 23:01

I don't really know what I want, or my budget. I know I don't want metro tiles because of the quantity of grout.
I want something that lookalike natural stone I think.
I will know it when I see it.

Fired Earth?

Pipbin · 30/09/2015 23:24

Hmm, a thought.
I just can't stand faux stone where you can see a repeating pattern or the printing dots.

Try wallsandfloors online - you can get samples and I'm sure if you contacted them they'd help you out. Also Porcelanosa worth a look. Maybe you need the real McCoy at a more affordable price then, or gave you ruled it out?

I would second Fired Earth and you could also try Mandarin Stone. They have a huge selection of natural stone and some very convincing porcelain stone type tiles.

carmugz · 01/10/2015 10:42

like wow, id suggest "wallsandfloors" online just ordered some samples and then went on to order full floor/wall tiles. sample service is amazing. we got some comparable porcelain wood effect plank floor tiles for £20 cheaper per m2 than topps tiles.

do you have any local independent tile store that do more "high end" tiles brands? you might get better quality stone effect porcelain with these price points.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 01/10/2015 10:47

Go to your local independent plumbers merchants.

We're currently doing loads of work including 2 ensures and a bathroom

The plumbers merchants have been excellent - lots of tiles in stock and quickly source anything that's not. No problem sending stuff back as long as carefully re-packaged. We also are getting an excellent discount

Thanks. I know it sounds petty but I don't want to spend the next 15 years staring at something in the bath I don't like, I have my thighs for that!

Do you have pictures of the sort of thing you have in mind? Mandarin Stone would be my suggestion for lovely tiles but not silly prices. Fired Earth has some lovely stuff but ridiculously expensive for what is just tiles. We have a shop near us I mooch in and then go and find something similar online for a fraction of the cost. Or I might be some tiles from them and mix in with some cheaper ones.

Audrey0989 · 01/10/2015 13:11

wallsandfloors - second these guys.
Reliable delivery. Easy to order samples online so u can figure out whether the tiles work for u in ur bathroom lighting and etc.

randomsabreuse · 01/10/2015 13:14

Tile choice if you're Midlands area. One in Kidderminster was great, we got sort of marble effect, not dotty for sensible money.

mandy214 · 01/10/2015 13:26

Another vote for wallsandfloors. Used them for our downstairs loo and were very good value.

liquidrevolution · 01/10/2015 14:36

Another wallsandfloors fan here but if you want something special then fired earth are amazing but sadly too expensive for me

gabbybaby · 02/10/2015 11:36

We're doing this right now. Nowhere inspired me. Went to Porcelanosa which has lovely tiles but I had assumed was over budget. They currently have 40% off all tiles which makes their prices comparable to everywhere else. Definitely worth it. Sale ends 11th October.
