New house, problem with it, what next?

We moved in to our house back in June and apart from a few snagging issues it has been ok, however, the garden has not been very well designed or finished and the patio does not drain well and we have standing water.

I have met with the site manager and explained our concerns, he has confirmed that the patio has not been laid correctly to enable water to run away (it should be laid a an angle for the water to drain off!).

I am meeting with him again tomorrow and I wanted some advice about how far can push for it to be sorted.

I think the whole patio needs to be relaid so it drains away from the house and stops the water pooling, the grass has been very badly laid as has the shed they provide. I have had another quote from a builder who I trust to do the work.

Just wondered if anyone else been in a similar position and what should
I do?

He's admitted it's not been done correctly therefore whoever laid it should sort it out.

It's a newly built house?

unsurprising - drainage issues are not high on developer's agendas. Check out the sad story of the North Wales estate which flooded before it was even completed.

OP - raise merry hell. If it is this bad now you are at SERIOUS risk of winter flooding, and once the house has flooded it will be difficult to insure and even more difficult to sell.

You need to make them sort it out till you are happy with it. Make a detailed list, with photos and description of why you aren't happy with each element, then note what he says about each thing.

The people who built the house are responsible for dealing with this though - you can't demand that you use your builder and invoice them
