experience of asbestos removal?

I have bought a house and am unreasonably cheery about this fact
(its a great house and we are ecstatic to be off the rental treadmill)

the only downside is there is an old wooden single garage with an asbestos roof in the garden, probably from the 50s or 60s - its not dangerous according to survey but we would like to do some work on the garden anyway (turf/tidy patio area), and would want to remove this shed as part of it
anyone have any experience of similar removals ? any recommendations on asbestos removal companies? How much should I be looking to put aside for this?

Ahh
We had a similar cement asbestos roof removed a couple of years ago.
You should contact your council and see what the regulations are. We went down the route of having builder remove the roof and then a specialist company place it in a covered skip and take it all away, which was cheaper than having the specialist company do it all.

A friend had asbestos in his home, it covered the central heating warm air ducts which go through all of the rooms distributing the hot air from the asbestos lined ducts.
Surveyor confirmed they where at moment safe but Df wanted them gone.It cost. To remove duckting and the asbestos cost £2,500

some councils have collection points at the refuse centre, they expect at least two layers of wrapping on it and you to call before dropping it off encase the container is full.

Removed the roof from outbuildings in a old house and wrapped them etc and took to the collection point, just brought another house and looks like ill be doing the same again

if doing your self, wear protection and old clothes you can dispose of, damp down the stuff and do things slowly and methodically, you don't want to break it up and create a dust

We had the ceiling insulation removed from our basement rooms (huge area) and paid a specialist company.

Getting the testing done to determine what kind of asbestos it is etc is fairly cheap tbh £250

After the warm air unit removal I suspect asbestos in my former unit cupoboard. My central heating fitting company, surprisingly, did not comment on it (just removed the unit as requested), but only now as I started cleaning the empty cupboard, I saw that some cement behind the former unit looks a bit bluish rather than grey. It could be it!
What do I start now? Needless to say I am terrified!

Don't disturb the asbestos. It's safe then. Get a specialist company to test it (£200-300) before doing anything else and then you'll have to get it removed if its disintegrating or they can advise on whether it's safe to just leave it.
