Plaster and Paint - Need advice before starting

Looking to getour new flat plastered and painted before we move in. As first time buyers with zero knowledge about DIY and decoration, feeling rather helpless and confused and need to make decisions quickly.

Any advice on what is the process involved, timelines (flat will be empty so hoping to get it all done in a week, tops) and what kind of primer, paints and finishes we need to get?

Been reading about some special type of paints made specifically for kitchen and bathrooms. How effective are these? can we use the same bathroom paint for both kitchen and bathroom?

was also advised by some friends to ensure we get an additive for anti-mould when painting the ceilings and around windows and radiators. Is this needed? can the additive be used with any kind of paint or would it be unsuited to certain kinds of paints/finishes?

what kind of finish is recommended for the walls? Just matt or would a paint with slight sheen be better? no kids right now, but this can change.

we will be mostly buying Dulux paints for ceilings. As for walls, still debating between Dulux (F&B or Little Green if i can convince DH to let me splash a bit).

any advice on anything else on this topic is also welcome. asking a lot of questions but as we are totally new to this, we need all the advice we can get. TIA.

If it needs plastering before painting then you'll need to give it much more than a week! Can't paint straight onto fresh plaster, not unless you want the paint flaking off once it dries out.
If you go to trade paint auppliers, some can mix up the expensive makes like Little Green etc into a trade base that works out much much cheaper.
Best bet - get a recommended by a frid decorator in to talk it through and give you a quote if neither of you have any idea of processes / costs etc Smile
