Shower in cupboard!

Previous owners had put a shower in the airing cupboard next to the bathroom. We are now removing tiles as the walls are damp (they used plywood instead of waterproof plasterboard!)

We are now considering whether to knock through into the bathroom and re-do it all or just put another shower (with waterproof plasterboard etc) in. This is our main bathroom and shower. There is a shower in the bath but it's not as strong as the cubicle one. Does anyone have any recommendations what we should do?

Knock it through to the bathroom - it sounds really claustrophobic the way it is.

Another possibility would be to redo the bathroom and install a better shower in a "b" or "p" shaped bath. Advice anyone please?

It's very much personal preference though. Some people love having a separate shower cubicle. Your most aspirational route is probably knocking through into the bathroom and having separate bath and shower in there. But personally I prefer showers over baths so I might knock the shower through into a bathroon cupboard and move your good shower to over the bath. P shaped bath is a great compromise but can make baths cost a lot of time and money to run.

The shower opening onto the landing (I'm assuming that's where it is currently?) is less luxurious than the other options but if you will have teenagers one day, it might be hugely practical.

Another option might be to reconfigure the space to give you a full bathroom with shower over bath, and a separate spare loo. But if you already have a spare loo downstairs it wouldn't be worth it.

Another option is move the good shower over the bath, and convert the airing cupboard space back to a cupboard, or 2 cupboards back to back. But again, it depends on how much storage you've got generally. In our house we would convert ours to a built in wardrobe for the bedrrom on one side, and a bathroom cupboard for sheets etc. on the other. But we have a 2nd shower elsewhere in the house.

Thanks very much Minicaters for your practical advice. I like the storage ideas. We do have another shower downstairs so when we do have teenagers that will help. I don't like the fact that the shower opened onto the landing either. I'm away to look at shower baths!
