5/6 burner hobs - Neff / Bosch / Seimens ?

Hello,

We're looking at 5 or 6 burner hobs (gas); so Looked around and found that Neff, Bosch and Siemens are doing these (mor 5 burners than 6).

however, i am not happy with having the large Wok burner in the middle of the hob - I feel it takes up too much space from other burners around it.

Siemens had one where it was wider than usual and the wok burner was to the side as well; so slightly leaning towards that if we can find out more about it. if not, then Bosch is my next best choice and Neff coming at the bottom.

Does anyone have any advise/reviews to offer on Siemens appliances particularly hobs? any advice re Neff/Bosch hobs are also welcome.

I have not found many reviews particularly on 5/6 burner hobs. particularly the ones by Siemens.

thanks.

I thought they were all the same company. I've been looking at some appliances (microwave, induction hob) where each 'name' has a version which appears to have the same dimensions and features but branded differently and slightly different markings. I bought the cheapest which seems to be Bosch.

Did you know Siemens do a separate Wok gas hob - single large burner? If you have space go for this because the other 4 burners in a 4 burner hob will not be compromised and you will have more choice of hob with only 4 burners.

We are just finishing our kitchen and went for a combination of a 4 ring induction hob (for ease of cleaning) and a gas 'domino' wok burner (because we were loathed to give up gas completely plus it looks quite fancy )

We got the hobs from Bosch but got the idea from seeing the same set up with Neff appliances in a local kitchen showroom. We've had to buy a separate strip that sits in between them to support them in the worktop cut-out - there's only one hole cut for both hobs if you see what I mean Confused

PS the supporting strip was £60. For a single piece of metal. I'm in the wrong job....

lelivre: i read somewhere that they are all marketed by the same company, not sure if the manufacturer is one and the same. Lots of people i know have Bosch and seem to be happy with them so we just might end up with this.

Millymollymama: Great Idea! will look for the single wok burner hob and see if it is better than the 5/6 burners.

swillows: i get what you say about the single cut-out. it might be just want i am looking for. as for feeling i;m in the wrong job, snap!

prekapal I got mine direct from Bosch - here's the link to the hob and the strip is listed under the 'accessories' tab

Bosch wok burner

I'd second a PP's suggestion about mixing and matching hobs to get the configuration you like, if an all in one solution doesn't exist. That said, it's worth seeing them in person. Our induction hob has the largest (28cm) ring in the middle and initially I thought it was too big and in the wrong place, but the hob is wide enough that we can still fit our largest saucepans on the rings on the sides of the hob, with plenty of room in the middle.

Our previous hob had a wok burner/largest ring in the centre, and if you were using htat ring, there was no room for any other saucepans on the hob; it was crap so I understand your concern!

I have the siemens with the wok on the left and 4 other burners. I love the space and reach I have to cook, the layout is great. Best configuration I've ever cooked on.

Downsides:

  • bit of a bugger to clean (faffy with all the bitsa nd the tiny surface can be smeary without the right product), though all gas hobs are faffy. When you rub off the burnt on food the black finish on the burners eventually goes silver round the edge (though I suspect it's my cleaner being too heavy handed with a brillo pad!)
  • much wider than our extractor hood (my mistake) so extraction isn't great.

Mine's 3.5 years old and aside from the silvering mentioned above, it looks like new. Ditto my siemens ovens/micro/warming drawer/dishwasher. The fridge is only looking shabby because the cleaner smashed the fridge door shelf that takes the milk (see a pattern emerging...?)
