First thing for me is music. Get a radio/ipod hooked in and playing to help you with the rest of the unpacking.

Oh, and congratulations!

I would say your bed and cleaning materials. Our house was a bit grim when we moved in eg I had to clean all the kitchen cupboards before anything could be put away.

But most important is the kettle, tea/ coffee and milk for all your visitors!

Kettle tea coffee and milk. Don't forget the sugar (you might not take sugar, movers etc might)

Second most important is cleaning stuff, esp hoover to clean floors before putting beds down.

Then the bed.

Toilet roll and hand wash!
Your phone charger so you can call for a takeaway later.
Agree bed a priority. And whatever you need before you fall into it so towel, toiletries, nightwear etc.

Congrats! I'm thinking I'll need cleaning stuff before I start unpacking.
Cleaning stuff & wine;)
Once the bedrooms in order Id get some clothes hung & toiletries in the bathroom then start on kitchen stuff, hope all goes well for you today x

you will also need to change the locks. You have no idea who has keys. If it is a wooden door it will be very easy, if plastic also fairly easy. If you don't know how, describe what you have got or post a pic.

The back door ought to have bolts on it, preferably mortice rackbolts with a removable key. As long as they are bolted nobody can open it even if they have the doorkey.

If you have a side gate or shed, fit a big padlock such as a squire 660, which is weatherproof. Put it on the side away from the road.

If it has window locks and you have no key, or too few, post a pic and we can probably find replacements.

First boxes you unpack consider opening up and lay on your floor to protect. It is amazing how much traffic and bits of grit can spoil all types of floor. If it is raining a doormat is amazingly simple to prevent all sorts of grot being walked round repeatedly.
