How tough is water pipe for dishwasher

I really want to unplumb my dishwasher. It is attached somehow to a pipe with a nut that is too tight for me to turn. If I cut through the water feed I could get it out - but before I start with a stanley knife, how tough is the pipe?

if you cut the pipe, both the appliance and the supply valve will become unusable. You may also have a leak if the valve is worn.

Buy a pair of Water Pump Pliers from a DIY, motoring or hardware shop, or sometimes the tools shelf of your supermarket. They will undo the nut. The jaws of waterpump pliers can be adjusted a lot more than you would think, for different sizes Try not to buy any tool with the name "Silverline" on it as it will be rubbish.

You might do it with your jamjar opening kitchen tool.

The dishwasher doesn't work.

I don't actually understand about the valve - that is because I am at sea with this. I'm really grateful you wrote what you did as I think I was trying to undo the wrong nut. I need to undo a nut that isn't bumpy, then.

you undo the plastic nut, which might be grey or cream, and has ears.

the nut is coloured blue in this example and has ribs to grip instead of ears

I rummaged in my father's tool kit, I found the right nut, and I turned the little thingy that kept the pipe closed when nothing was attached, and I did it!!! Thank you thank you thank you.

Can't lift the fucker. I'll work on that.

spray furniture polish or WD40 on the floor underneath the feet and slide it out.

PigletJohn - I shall definitely remember that trick, but it's a table top dishwasher.

Fortunately DH could lift it.

I was planning on a sort of heft to chair to steps to garden routine. I'm very glad DH could shift it.

(off to spray WD40 under the washing machine because that is incredibly tough to move)
