We have found a potential property to buy - it's a large Victorian terrace and would be a total renovation job. Nothing structural but everything stripped out (it is a state) and then rewired, replastered, new floors, bathrooms, kitchens etc.
We are not afraid of taking it on, and it's in a great location so will be amazing when done. It's currently empty because it used to be part of a nursing home (along with adjoining properties that have also been sold as renovation projects). I thought nothing of it until I mentioned it to a friend who said they would never want to live in somewhere that had been a nursing home because it is likely people will have died in the house.
To be honest unless you buy a new build surely that is a possibility anyway, and even more likely in an old house with multiple previous occupiers.
But it made me think - would this out you off buying a house?
