what is the smallest shower room I could have?

I have a small under stairs room that I did put a loo and basin in which is fine, but I am now wondering if I could get away with having a teeny wetroom there....

I'm assuming that the cupboard is about 80cm wide (the width of the stairs). I think it would be a crush to have anything less than 2.2-2.4m in length. If you don't have a shower tray/cubicle but just a drain in the floor it could be shorter but having the area fully tanked to allow for that would be eye-wateringly expensive.

We have got a downstairs shower room that is small - 5ft x 5ft 6. There is a 1/4 circle shower with glass doors, sink, loo and towel rail in there. If you went for a corner sink and a compact loo I reckon you could fit it into 5ft x 4ft 6 looking at the space I have here.

I don't use it that often because we have two other bathrooms upstairs but DH uses it when he gets up vvv early (3am ish) so that he doesn't wake me up - he does anyway but not with the shower.

Fast responses! Sadly I have less than half the size available Polter and Lavender.
I have just measured Lalalonglegs, and it is 80x 180cm, with the end bit being 130cm high. It's not going to happen is it?

My friend has just had this installed! it could help save some space.

NullaBore · 28/08/2015 21:42

Do have a wet room in such a small place! We had one in a rental and in winter the floor was always wet and it was all wet. It was horrid.

lalalonglegs · 28/08/2015 21:45

It would be utterly miserable to shower in there. Sorry Sad.

2catsfighting · 28/08/2015 22:03

I know you are right, I keep hoping it will magically become a Tardis like Room of Requirements, whereas I will step into the cupboard under the stairs and be transported into a tiled luxurious spa experience.. And as an aside, it would be useful for washing the dog on fox poo days.

Do not ffs, I'm doing that too often.

ArmfulOfRoses · 28/08/2015 22:26

I have been viewing houses and saw one where there was a shower in a cupboard at the top of the stairs.
When the owner opened the door, I didn't really know what to say.

There was no light, so you would have to shower with the cupboard door open to be able to see anything.
It was next to a bathroom, so why the hell they didn't just put the shower over the bath I don't know!

I do realize that this has no real connection to your question Grin

But thank you for your contribution Armful for contributing to the discussion.

I didn't like to say that we use ours for dog washing in the main2cats, thought it might not be what you wanted to hear Grin, and whilst it is small, it is perfectly fine for a 6'3 tree of a man too.

2catsfighting · 29/08/2015 08:38

Grin It was all part of a plan to save me heaving ours into the bath!

.... wonders if you could put a cheap shower tray and a tap in there in the sloped low ceiling, have one of those shower things that goes on the taps. Lot of expense for the dog though!

2catsfighting · 29/08/2015 11:09

And as she doesn't like washing, it's not as if she'd appreciate it!

I wondered about this last year. According to one wet room manufacturer, they can do a fully tanked shower room in a space 75 cm2.

onecurrantbun1 · 29/08/2015 17:40

Really em?! We have a short projection loo in our en-suite, pretty much the smallest we could find and it's 60 x 35cm. Would you have to stand on the loo to shower?

emwithme · 29/08/2015 21:07

I don't think you'd get a loo in as well - just found the tweet and on a concrete floor you can go as small as 600mm square, but would need to be 700mm square on a wooden floor. The liner starts at 800mm square but can, apparently, be cut (but still - 80cm2 is TEENY!)

I remember being astounded at how small it was and wondered how people would actually fit to wash comfortably.

onecurrantbun1 · 31/08/2015 10:23

Sometimes functional is enough though I guess! You'd have to open the door naked to grab your towel I imagine!
