What do I need to google to buy more shelves like this please? I thought they were solid wood but they seem to be mdf covered in plywood. Some are white and some are stained. Some of the brackets are also wood which I prefer but that's downstairs and the baby is asleep here.

if they are MDF or chipboard, are they laminated or painted?

You can buy contiboard and similar in several sizes, and a few DIY sheds will still cut to your list. However they will only be edged on the long side.

I know a place that does it mail order, good quality Egger laminate in a range of colours and fake woods, but the P&P appears to be £15 minimum, so get plenty (including any you can use in the kitchen units) in one order.

p.s.

it looks like they have a moulded edge. Not much chance of getting that to match. What are the dimensions?

Is there any area you don't specialise in??

The white is just painted I'm attaching a photo of the stained version. I don't think it's contiboard. It's about 5cm thick. I don't mind about an exact match but I quite like the look of it, or at least it matches the house (Victorian). Alternative materials welcomed. I'd have solid wood but they don't seem to do it deep enough.

50mm is very thick. Could they be hollow? If solid it would be very heavy. If light they might be ply on a simple frame.

Measure it and see if it is 44mm, which is the thickness used for external or fire-resisting doors, they might have been cut out by a woodworking hobbyist. External doors are usually about 835mm wide, which might be a clue. Fire doors are often veneered on dense chipboard.

BTW the white iron brackets look to me like they are from a high-level WC cistern, from between about 1880 and 1930. The wooden brackets look quite common.

If they are ply over a frame, with an applied moulding, they would be easy for a person who likes woodwork to make, but not much chance of finding them in a shop.

OP I have just stumbled upon brackets very similar to the ones on your white shelf on B&Q's website while trawling through 'brackets' looking for something else. They're £8 each.
